Highly porous and conductive functional carbon fibers from electrospun phosphorus-containing lignin fibers

چکیده
Functional carbon fibers were prepared by carbonization of thermostabilized electrospun lignin-fibers at 500–900 °C followed a high temperature thermal treatment 1200–1600 °C. The effect the preparation on their surface chemistry, structural order, textural properties and electrochemical behavior has been stablished. Maximum porosity development is obtained 900 addition phosphoric acid in electrospinning lignin solution shortens stabilization time fibers, increases yield, generates phosphorus functional groups (P content as 3% wt.) BET area from 840 to 1143 m2 g?1. Interestingly, when phosphorus-containing are treated even very temperature, 1600 °C, most preserved (ABET = 822 g?1). XPS depth profile reveals presence reduced core carbonized fibers. XRD TEM analysis make evident that induces curvature graphitic layers, which seems hinder stacking graphene explaining preservation microporosity after temperature. However, Raman analyses point out does not affect lateral growing crystallites. Thus, preserves allows electrical conductivity treatments. Gravimetric capacitances 79 F g?1 capacitance retention 63% 68 A have determined for 1200

FABRICATION OF CARBON FIBERS FROM COMMERCIAL WET SPIN POLYACRYLONITRILE FIBERS
Carbon fibers are fabricated from different materials such as special polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fibers, cellulose fibers and pitch. But PAN fibers are recognized as the most widely used precursor for the present-day manufacture of carbon fibers. The process of fabrication carbon fibers from special PAN fibers is composed of two steps including oxidative stabilization at low temperature and carbon...
متن کاملCarbon Fibers from UV-Assisted Stabilization of Lignin-Based Precursors
Production of high strength carbon fibers from bio-derived precursors is of topical interest. Recently, we reported on dry-spinning of a partially acetylated softwood kraft lignin to produce carbon fibers with superior properties, but the thermo-oxidative stabilization step required a long time due to a slow heating rate needed to prevent the fibers from being heated too rapidly and sticking to...

Anisotropic electrically conductive films (PI-GNR/CNT) consisting of highly aligned polyimide (PI) composite fibers with graphene nanoribbon (GNR) and carbon nanotube (CNT) (GNR/CNT) hybrids as nanofillers have been prepared by electrospinning. The GNR/CNT hybrids used here were prepared by one-step partial unzipping of multi-walled CNTs, in which, with the residual CNTs bonded on the randomly ...
متن کاملHighly thermally conductive and mechanically strong graphene fibers.
Graphene, a single layer of carbon atoms bonded in a hexagonal lattice, is the thinnest, strongest, and stiffest known material and an excellent conductor of heat and electricity. However, these superior properties have yet to be realized for graphene-derived macroscopic structures such as graphene fibers. We report the fabrication of graphene fibers with high thermal and electrical conductivit...
